In Wales, where the peaks reach high,
‘Neath cobalt blue, a shoe and sock did fly.
Hand in hand, they dreamed of the day,
To climb Snowdon’s heights, come what may.

With laces tight and toes so bright,
They set off on their daring flight.
Adventure called, a coffee friend,
To find a treat around the bend.

Through winding paths, in misty air,
The shoe was strong, the sock a flair.
Together they climbed, oh so bold,
Through winds so fierce, and bitter cold.

Up, up they went, past crags and streams,
Fuelled by laughter and lofty dreams.
At last, they reached the summit’s crown,
A cozy café welcomed them down.

With weary feet, they found their cheer,
A cup of coffee, warm and dear.
Together they’d conquered, hearts aglow,
The shoe and sock, the stars of Snowdon show!

This light-hearted poem brings back fond memories of my younger days in Wales, when Snowdon was more than just a mountain—it was a challenge, an adventure, and a place that tested both body and spirit. During my service years, I took part in the gruelling 15-mile Snowdon Run, pushing myself across rugged paths and steep climbs. Today, I’d be more likely to enjoy a gentle walk than a race to the summit, but the memories remain as vivid as ever. Through the playful characters of Shoe and Sock, I’ve celebrated those treasured days of friendship, endurance, laughter, and achievement on one of Britain’s most iconic mountains.

Self‑Discovery and Identity — “What Was and What Will Be

The Future Forged Within

Where challenges rise, dreams begin,
Awakening courage from within.
One life is yours to pursue,
Make it meaningful, strong, and true
Tomorrow bends to human will,
Forged by choice beyond the hill.
