Boys run like wildfire, untamed and free,
With spirits as wild as the wind through a tree.
Through trouble and fun,
They laugh as they run,
Discovering who they might be.
Their laughter rings out with mischievous cheer,
A melody telling you trouble is near.
With tricks up their sleeve,
They make you believe,
That innocence surely lives here.
They chase after dreams like bright shooting stars,
Imagining journeys to planets afar.
With hearts all aflame,
Adventure their game,
No dream ever seems out of reach or too far.
Boys harbour their secrets and never confess,
Behind cheeky grins that leave others to guess.
When asked what they’ve done,
They’re ready to run—
While claiming they’ve made no such mess.
They dance to a rhythm entirely their own,
Unpredictable paths into worlds still unknown.
Through laughter and noise,
That’s simply young boys,
Finding their way as they grow.
By Paul Baldry
This poem celebrates the wonderful imagination of boys, where the world of today can become the adventure of tomorrow. A cardboard box might be a racing car, a garden an unexplored jungle, and the future anything they dare to dream. There will always be curiosity, scraped knees, laughter and perhaps a little mischief along the way. But behind those mischievous grins are young minds discovering life, testing boundaries and imagining who they might one day become.
