— A Candle of Hope and Unity —

Light a candle—
just one—
and let it breathe.

For the ones
who sit in silence
too long.

For the ones
without a door
to close behind them.

For the ones
fighting quietly—
battles no one sees.

Light another—
not for show,
just for warmth.

For the stories
never told,
only carried.

For the drifting—
those somewhere between
lost and found.

For the ones
searching for a place
that feels like theirs.

Let it flicker—
soft, but steady.

For the children
finding their way
without a map.

For beginnings—
fragile, new.

For endings—
spoken in whispers
and long goodbyes.

Light one more—
for connection.

For families—
held together
in imperfect ways.

For those who serve,
who stand
when others can’t.

For friendship—
that quiet hand
on your shoulder.

For strangers—
who, for a moment,
aren’t strangers at all.

And don’t forget—
light one
for yourself.

For the weight
you carry.

For the cracks
you hide.

For the healing
you’re still learning.

And maybe—
if you can—
light one for me too.

Let them gather—
these small flames.

Not loud,
not grand,
but enough.

Enough to soften
the dark.

Enough to remind us—
we’re not alone here.

Just people,
standing in the same night,
sharing a little light.

I’ve tried to use the image of candlelight to speak of shared struggle, compassion, and human connection. I’ve tried to honours both the unseen battles we carry and the small, powerful acts of kindness that can bring us back to each other.

Reflections on Life

Self‑Discovery and Identity — “What Was and What Will Be”

“I spent my youth chasing the future.
Now I sit with coffee and watch—
others run toward theirs.”

“The young chase tomorrow with urgency; the old watch it arrive —
with patience.”
