He’s not asleep.
Not really.
Just somewhere between
a nap and a dream
where birds flap slow
and the sun hums soft.
One paw dangling—
like he’s testing gravity
but not committing.
The other’s tucked,
guarding nothing
but the right to stay still.
He’s got the window.
His throne.
His lookout.
His stage.
And the world outside
can wait.
A breeze rolls in.
He blinks once.
Decides it’s not worth moving.
The day is warm,
the wall is solid,
and he’s mastered the art
of doing absolutely nothing
with style.
Meet Thomas, our new cat—Tom to those who know him best. Like many cats, he’s claimed the best seat in the house: the windowsill. This light-hearted poem captures his quiet confidence, lazy charm, and remarkable talent for doing absolutely nothing while looking completely in charge of the world.
