The path is blurred, the future dim,
A world that feels unkind, worn thin.
The weight of “what” and “who to be”
Hangs like a storm they cannot see.
The road twists on through doubt and noise,
Drowned out by endless political voice.
First steps to work meet closing doors,
Where promise fades on hollow shores.
Each step unsure, each dream delayed,
In shifting ground their hopes are laid.
Choices made in distant halls
Still rumble loud through silent calls.
Yet in the dark, though hard to trust,
Through quiet fear and creeping dust,
Each fragile step, though torn apart,
Still builds a strength within their hearts.
By Paul Baldry (LongJohn)
My take on modern youth standing at the edge of adulthood, where uncertain futures, limited job prospects, and distant political decisions shape their path. It captures quiet resilience in a world that often feels stacked against them. I have felt and seen this through the personal experiences of my grandchildren.
