Over the Hills We Go
Seven voices bright,
von Trapp children, hand in hand,
Maria beside—
Captain stands so tall, yet gentle,
love has taught his heart to sing.
Soft footsteps at night,
whispers float through shadowed halls,
moon holds secrets close—
seven hearts beat quick together,
love their lantern in the dark.
From the marching drums,
Nazi shadows drawing near,
boots echo below—
they slip past the watching silence,
fear and courage hand in hand.
Over hills they climb,
hand in hand through silver mist,
wind sings “don’t look back”—
adventure dances with danger,
hope skips lightly at their heels.
By Paul Baldry (LongJohn)
A gentle tale of the von Trapp family’s brave escape, where love, music, and courage guide them through fear and adventure toward freedom, told with a childlike sense of wonder. This is another childhood memory, I must have watched this film about 5 times.
